High Court Sides With Skilling, Black – WSJ.com

June 24, 2010

I find the idea of letting any of the Enron people off the hook for legal technicalities to be disgusting. Here is a case where a very powerful man colluded with others to engage in activities that caused the financial ruin of millions of people whose life savings were tied up in Enron for one reason or another. Skilling’s guilt is not questioned. And the door is now open such that other crimes committed in much the same manner as the Enron scandal may be more difficult to prosecute. This ruling on the part of the SCOTUS may even embolden other white-collar criminals to act contrary to law to the detriment of more innocent people.

Arizona Governor Vows to Fight Any Federal Lawsuit Over Immigration Law

June 18, 2010

Ok, so let me get this straight.

The Federal government is going to use taxpayer money to sue the state of Arizona. Arizona is going to use taxpayer money to defend itself against the Federal government for enforcing a law, patterned after a Federal law, that the Federal government refuses to enforce.

What a bunch of imbeciles are those who inhabit the District of Columbia!

Bernanke Warns of ‘Unsustainable’ Deficit – NYTimes.com

June 9, 2010

This article captures in a nutshell the incompetence of the Federal Reserve and the current administration.

1) The Fed admits that damage has been done by the overspending of the BHO administration.

2) But, the spending was necessary to slow down the recession (recessions usually occur when there is an imbalance in revenue versus spending that leads to lower GDP, job losses, and retrenchment by businesses… Bernanke’s comment is counterintuitive).

3) The Democratic-controlled Congress has yet to come up with a budget for 2011.

4) Nothing substantive will happen until the President’s “bipartisan fiscal commission” is completed with its work.

The upshot… the economy will continue to flounder until the administration comes up with its solution to the problem, which will be to carry on business as usual. In the meantime, the federal deficit surges past $13 trillion, the POTUS continues to work on his golf handicap, 20% of the population of the country remains unemployed, and they all lived happily ever after.

All except the living happily ever after stuff.
